The Languages of the Elves

The are two languages spoken by the elves. They are Quenya and Sindarin. Quenya is the high-elven speech, used on holidays and special occasions. Sindarin is the everyday tongue. Many of the names in "Lord of the Rings" are in Sindarin. Both are written in tengwar, the elvish alphabet. Neither one is the text on the one ring. From what I've found, Quenya has a slightly larger vocabulary, but there are similarities and you'd do well to know both. A good place to start is this dictionary.
